Good Morning Everyone. Thanks again for the robust discussion at our last City 4 Health Discussion last Friday (as well as your efforts to document community efforts leading up to the meeting). Most of the discussion centered on the fact that we just don’t know what we don’t know (what else is out there). As such we discussed the need for a space to create connections, bi-directional information sharing, relationships and action around the health issues facing Rochester and the surrounding communities. We all agreed that simply having a compilation of resources (even if we were able to accurately represent all of the resources/programs in the community) is not sufficient. We need something more relevant, more personalized and more activating.
Next Steps:
Given these insights and the consensus of “not starting from scratch” we have determined that the most appropriate next steps are to develop a strategy for designing, developing, engaging with communities and testing a dynamic tool for:
1) raising awareness of community efforts.
2) individuals to access needed community resources/initiatives.
3) identifying opportunities for collaboration and volunteering.
4) community development and on-going input.
At our next meeting, which Kevin will be working to schedule next week, we will review recommendations, examples of developing such as tool, phases of work (including rough timelines), deliverables, possible target communities and ways to evaluate progress and effectiveness. In preparation for our next meeting, we will be sending out materials and specific questions for review 2 weeks beforehand, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, we have attached notes from our meeting last week, included the City4Health working document link here and a link to Al Lun's website (presented at our meeting) here.
